In May of 1985 Bob & Larry trekked across America to get Bob out to a job in California. It was an epic journey. Two guys, a new Chevy Cavalier, a dozen or so CDs, a CD player suspended on a frisbee for shock isolation, 5 days, 2,500 miles. What more could you want?
Maybe a hotel room on Memorial day weekend in Tahoe?
Perhaps a six pack of beer in Sacramento, where they won't take a NY Driver's License as id?
The sound of cattle grates under the wheels at speed?
Or just maybe a beer upon arrival at Mom & Dad's house....
In June of 2002 Larry and Bob repeated their epic journey to get Bob's 1986 Toyota MR2 back from California to home in NY. Two guys, an old Toyota sports car, 60+ hours of MP3s on a laptop hooked into the car stereo, 802.11b antenna stuck to the back window, two digital cameras, 6 days, 2,500 miles. How could we go wrong?
It could have been the alternator that died in the high desert of Utah/Nevada...
It might have been the bird we hit at more than 115Mph...
Then on the other hand, it might have been getting hit by a buffalo at 15mph in Yellowstone...
Or the speeding ticket for doing 90 in a 65 outside Reno... Maybe the flat tire in western South Dakota...
Minneapolis in the pouring rain?
Detroit's Jefferson Ave. at 10 at night?
Windsor, Ontario at 11 at night?
Or just maybe it was the stop in wine country at the beginning of it all...
